it is coooold -19c today and that is not fun,, but I have my nice warm coat and Im really happy with how it turn out,, review and more pics are on PR

well here is an update on my life and sewing adventures
I have joined the stash fast and diet again this year, so far so good , I have only brought 6 meters of fabric and that was for my new winter coat, but the biggest reason is because I broke the bank! big time...........................

I brought my self a new toy! a Janome 6600. it has been a big time want for a lonnng time and now It lives in the sewing room,,with my 2 other janmone sewing machines and my janome seger , bit crowed in there but that is ok,, more reason to sew more stash fabric!
I also joined the stash reduction contest on PR and did ok.. sewed about 18 meters of fabric in the time alotted so that is a good thing
I do have a number of paid sewing projects to complete in march before I can get back to sewing for the girls and the grandbabies and of course me,, but paid work will help with the cost of my new toy , paid sewing was part of my reason to get it now
the other news is that I have agreed to manage a contest on pr, the hat making in 2009, Im really excited about doing this, I have learn tons form the great people there and this is my chance to give something back to them
well enough for now , I have to get off of the pc and get some chores done and then back to sewing !

The coat is done!
I have enter it in the contest reuse , reclcye on pattern review and posted a review for it
I did learn alot in the progress of making this coat and feel that i can now make the good wool coat that I want and neeed,, It has been nasty cold lately and a warm coat would be a good thing!
Now on the something different, I think my next project will be some thing quick and easy before I start the vogue coat that I want to make, I have the fabric for the coat, but before I cut it i will make a mulsin , to make sure that it fits well
but before I do that , I might make a t shirt or something simple , a bit of a break is needed I think
well Im off the work, afternoons this week

How time has flew by,, Jan 3 allready!
well here is the lastest update
I have joined two contest on Pattern Review
the reconstruction/recycling/refashioning contest
and the stash reduction contest

for the recon etc ,, Im making a coat using a coat that i purchased form value village for a whole 14.99 in the hopes that i can get better at working and sewing wool fabrics,using simplicity 2812. I have the coat cut aprart now and have started a wip review, so the next thing to do is iron the pieces that have been taken apart and cut out the new coat. then sew ,, lots to do on it

for the stash reduction contest i have managed to sew a slip for lens daughter Kate a slip for when she wears her pretty knit dress and i have a coulpe of more projects that i would like to enter , but i have to get the coat first coat contest ends jan31 and stash contest ends feb 28

I think the best thing that I have done is join the fabric fast/ diet on Pattern review,It goes on for the full year,each person sets there own rules and goals for the year. I will only be buying the fabric for my good coat {and that is only if the coat form the reduction contest works out}and i can buy notions etc , but no fabric i have decided that I will fast for 6 months and then diet for the last 6 months of the year, but even then I will still have way more fabric than i can sew in a year
stash is sitting at aprox 350 yrds Yikes

well after a long break im back, I have my sewing room back! and the kids have moved to there own place again,, love them dearly but i think we are all much more happy in are own space!
as to sewing well i have a lot to do in a very short time, i have atleast 9 items to make for x mas gifts and a craft show to do in dec, Yikess
well i must get off of the pc and get sewing

I have been sewing though,
mostly for the little monkey and her mom, I made some burp cloths and a boppy pillow with a cover and a baby sling and a few receiving blankets , I have not taken any pics though but i will and post them later
I think for my next couple of projects I will be sewing for Ally, she has noticed that I have been sewing for everyone, but not anything for her, so I going to make her a couple of t shirts for summer, will use my jalies for the patterns ,, love that they come in sizes for kids to grown up all in one envelope!

Hay eveyone

It is done!! I finished the timmel swap!!

and it looks like spring is finely going to happen

been a long time coming that is for sure

so i will be able to use the clothes that I have just finished

Happy Easter everyone!

Just thought it was time to do a bit of an update, it is the second day of spring!! at least that is what the calender says, but when you go out side here it is still cooold,, but at least the sun is still shining, Im soo sick of snow,, cant Wait for green grass,and maybe a few flowers too

on the sewing front I have managed to get the pants and skirt form vogue 8302 done and am sewing the jacket today it is almost half done! The vogue 8302 is the swap 2008 wardrobe pattern required for the timmel swap. After I finish the jacket all i will have to do is one more knit top and a pair of Capri's then the timmel swap will be done
as for the pr swap all i will have to do is the purse, the accessory requirement of the swap
Yay I can see the end!
Im still sewing in the dinning room as I still have company but it is working out well. I have enjoyed having someone to talk to when I sew
Well I should get back to sewing,, Oh and i still have to write all the reviews for the two swaps

Its March!! Yes, spring is getting closer

well here is my update for the end of Feb,, I have managed to sew 6 of the items need for the two swaps that I'm working on and that is a good thing,, only 5 more to go!!
I have company for the month of March, my daughter is staying with me till her new apt is ready, April 1st , so my sewing room is no longer , but I can still sew , just have to step everything up in the dinning room , takes time off of actual sewing but at least I can still sew!

I'm so looking forward to spring,, sick and tried of snow and cold! been a lonnnng cold winter, I want to see green grass and a few flowers would be nice, even being able to go out side with out 3 to 4 layers would be good

Happy Family longweekend!!

Well it has been awheile since Iposted on my blog
once again life gets in the way sometimes',,,,
as for sewing I have managed to get a couple of things done
a mccalls top and a burda for my sister in law birthday and Im in the proseces of making the simplicity jacket for a lady at work
the jacket has been slow going,, the fabric she chose is ,,,, well not good, if ya look at it , it starts to fray little alone touch it! so I have to serge all the edges to keep it under control
Note to self, next go with the person when they buy the fabric

As for the swap sewing no progress there,, but I hope to get some done this week
I have mangaged to post a couple of reviews on PR and update my storyboard but that is about it
the fabric fast is going well , still no new fabric brought , Ya me

FEB 3 2008

well it has been a bit since I updated my blog ( life got in the way) between work and the flu
Once again it is the weekend, so far not much sewing done, but I have managed to get all of the chores done. Yay, been along week,, and I was behind on cleaning, with work and being sick eveything just kinda got behind
My burda jeans are done, but they are going to take a bit of work to get to fit right, and the jalies are traced and cut for the swap, the vogues are traced but not cut.
I dont know if I will get much done this week on the swap
Have to work a a couple of projects for others, the simplicity jacket3563 for a lady at work and have a birthday present to make for my sister in law so they will be done first then it will be back to the swap!

YaY its the weekend
well just a bit of an update
I got my seger back home where it belongs! and the best part is that it was fixed all under the warranty!, I cant say enough good things about my Janome dealer,, they have great service and have always been helpful and good about answering all my stupid questions, I have taken my machines in a few times for cleaning and repair and they have been covered under the warranty, Iwould have gladly paid but they said no it is covered,,,,, how cool is that
I know that i will have to pay for service on day and I wont mind a bit

I am working on my swap this weekend, so far ,one jalie top done and another is cut out but have not started it yet, so far I have most of the patterns traced expect for my vogues and will work on them during the week, I'm on afternoons so I will have time to do them.

Well sitting here on the computer is not getting the top sewn, best get a move on

GOOD EVENING ALL,,

Well it is Friday night,
what a week, first full week back after the holidays, at it was a lonnng one

as for sewing welll....... I have not done one signal thing,,Last Sunday broke my
seger,, broke it goood, so I have been put off of sewing, I did manage to take it in to the shop on Thursday and they said it would be a least a weeek..so by my figuring it will be a least 2 weeks with out it,, and I miss it all ready

but I have to get on with the swap sewing , I plan to at least trace and cut out a few of the pieces for it, I have also taken on 2 projects form friends from work
the fleece jacket i made is a big hit and they like it so much that they want me to make one for them , so I will, they have to supply the fabric though, as I'm not buying any,,part of the new year clean up..I have joined the fabric fast on pr, it makes me feel wonderful that they want me to make it for them, touched my heart it did ,Had to tell them though that the jackets will not be started till I get the seger back form the shop
well I must get off of the PC and do some chores so I have the weekend free to sew

well it is Jan 5 th

I have managed to get a lot done this week, I finish too ufos

a vogue sweater and a simplicity jacket and will be entering them in the pr ufo contest

and i have also managed to get some work done on my swap

traced one jalie pattern and got some of the swap story broad ,,

so all in all it has been a good week sewing wise, work wise,, well work is work and ya have to work to pay all the bills,, and it was a short work week

on to the weekend

HAPPY 2008

Its the first day of a new year,, and what did i do?

Well I spent part of the day replacing the hard drive on my computer,lucky it was only my small drive that went, I have larger one that Im using now

So much for a day of just sewing

but I did manage to sew bwof 127 pj pants

and that is a good thing

Its is back to work tommorow , oh well,,,,,

I hope during the rest of the week to work on the swap story board and get a bit of sewing done, just depends on how I feel after a working all day

well here it is Dec 31
it has been quite a year, in some ways good and someways not so good,, but that is life; just have to keep on going
as to goals for 2008
I have put myself on a fabric and pattern fast, exp, for bwof with I just have started getting in Nov, paid for a full year so they will still be added to the collection, but no more purchases for me unless it is a notion and I need it for the project that I'm working on at the time
Today I'm working on measuring my stash of fabric and patterns and cleaning the sewing room
ohhhh my,, what a mess, but it has to be done
I have come across a few fabrics,, that have me saying,, what was I thinking,, wrong color or fabric, those I think, I will have to find new home for
but I have also found a few treasures that have given me a few new ideas
Well time I get back to it
I also want to do some work on the swap of 2008

Goodmorn everyone
wow, it is Dec 30 already, the days are just flying by,soon it will be back to work for me,
dang
oh well , i have not managed to get as much sewing done as i had hoped,, i have had the grand daughter over , and with a 6 year old ya don't get a lot done.
I have traced a couple of patterns getting ready for the swap contest that i have entered
and I also have managed to start to go through my fabric stash,, measuring and seeing just what is there,,Ohh boy,,way too much,,so i have also put my self on a fabric fast,, joined the group on pattern review who are also going to fast form fabric buying,, it is supposed to last the year so i will see how long I can go

Made some process on the storyboard for the swap.. but I have had some nasty pc issues to deal with , had to start the pc right form clearing hd and putting windows in again,, which meant that I lost all my stuff on the pc,,Had to do this 4 times in the last two days
hopefully all is well now and I can get on with it

as for new years resolutions,,
the fabric fast
and to clean and organize my sewing room

swap 2008

today I working on my swap story broad , Thank you ej for the info on how to make one on the pc.. i have my patterns and fabric picked out,,well most of the fabric pick out form my fabric and pattern stash,, i may splash out and buy a piece or two today when i go to fabricland, i was spoiled this christmas and reacived gift certs for fabricland and today im going to go and just have a good long shopping trip looking at fabric etc,,with no rush, it has been a wheile since i have had time just to and look,, latley it has been run in get what i need and run out,

Yesterday i worked on the simpicity 3563 jacket,, it is cut out and the interfacing is fused to the pieces that needed to be fused,, used the last of my knit interfacing so that will have to go on my shopping list at fabricland,, and i also have to pick up some cording for the butttons,
well lots to do today and best get a move on,, it is going to be a bit nuts with all the boxing week shoppers and i want to get there before it gets too busy

Happy boxing day

Christmas 2007 is a done deal

was a good time with family and friends,, we all ate too much but laughed and loved and that is a good thing( the best part of the holidays is spending time with family and friends)

All the presents I had made fit,, even the mans shirt, that i was so worried about the fit!

how cool is that

now that Christmas is done I'm on to sewing for me

my first project will be http://www.simplicity.com/assets/3563/3563t.jpg. I have wanted this jacket for some time, i got the pattern when it first came out but had to put it aside for the Christmas projects. I'm making it out of a burgundy fleece so it will be nice and warm

I also have decided to participate in the timmel swap 2008 and i haven't even made a story broad yet, i have not even figured out how to make one and post it on the net

i do have my wardrobe pattern picked out vogue 8302. and vogue8425.

I have to pick one of the four jalie patterns for the fabric /pattern purchase element of the swap , you have to purchase a minimum 25 worth of patterns or fabric from the timmel site, I could not decide which one I liked best so I order all four from her, and you can never have to many patterns in my mind

well I'm off the work on the swap and do a bit of sewing

Christmas sewing done!

Yay i did it! i was able to sew all my gifts and have them done by the 23rd,, my last project was the man shirt,now all i have to do is finish wrapping and there are done'
Pies are in the oven, and all i have left is to prep the veg for tommorow, bread for stuffing etc
and of course tidy up the house,, chores have been put a side for a bit and it shows

I will probly not get on the pc till after the holidays so Merry Christmas and Happy New Year

Update
no work till jan 2 i am officially on christmas holidays,, ya , was done work at 1130 pm and i don't have to go back till the second of jan,, ya more time to sew, once Christmas is over i plan on working on some sewing just for me , I hope to do the timmel 2008 swap and i have to get it organized , i will post more about it later on.

Christmas
shopping is done!,, all i had left to do was food shop for fresh veg and fruit , thank goodness that was all i needed to get the stores are just crazy ,
I have finished the little Christmas dress and it is very cute, even if i say so myself
I dont have anything wrapped yet but i will work on that tonight while watching some tv, and i still have pies to bake and some shortbread cookies, but all in all things are going well
One last sewing project to do, the mans dress shirt,, i hope that i can get it done one time
but once it is done the xmas sewing will be done (Ya me) i have enjoyed making all my gifts this year and have learned a number of new sewing things,, i have done my first invisible zip , worked with fabric that i have never tried before and made my first bwof pattern, and made some changes to patterns to design them to work for what i needed, maternity clothes for my daughter and a nice jacket for my brother ,oh and i aslo used some embroidery stitches on my machine for the first time
well i should get of off the pc and a get a move on the 24 is fast approaching

I have not gotten much sewing done in the last couple of days,, life keeps getting in the way, but I have mangaged to put the widget in for my pattern reviews on this blog , and that i think is a good thing,
It is starting to warm up out side so that is a good thing,, i hate the cold.
I have started working on the little dress ,i have to cut out and marked, it is being made out of a piece of velevet from my stash, first time that i have used velevet,, so far im not liking it much, but i will post more on it as i work with it

well it is monday morn, i got a lot of sewing done yesterday, i finished one top and a i just have to hem the other top. i have posted the reviews for it on pattern review,so it was a good day,
it is bright and sunny but coooold , at least the storm has ended,lots of snow, there were tons of cancelleations , planes trains etc , also a number of christmas plays, etc, i feel bad for all of the people who worked on these projects, most are people who have put there time if for fress and have put numerus hours in and with the holidays so close it would be hard to set a different date.
well i should get a move on, im on the late shift and i have a number of things to get done, includeing finishing sewing christmas presents,, i will post how far i got tommorow

well i did it, i have started a blog, i never thought i would be the type to have one but here it goes,
I would like to share my adventures in sewing with others , sewing is a hobby and it is one of the ways that i relax and take a break form it all,
Today were are having a bit of snow , we are supposed to get up to 30cm and have high winds to go with it , so it will be a good day to just stay in and relax.{Ya a day just to sew)
I have most of my Christmas shopping done , all i have left to do is buy the fresh food and i will do that later in the week, as for Christmas presents, I'm making all of my gifts this year , i have most of them done, I still have two tops and a cute little dress , one hat and a mans shirt to make , but i have made 3 jackets, 1 pair of pj pants ,1 skirt ,1 sweat suit and 1 pair of pants , so i guess i more than half way done! I'm a member of pattern review and you can see what i have made so far in the reviews under my name bluenines,
well i should get off of the pc and get sewing
