Well it is Sunday again , were did the weekend go,, work week goes way to slow and the weekend just fly by,, oh well, such is life..
Lets sew what is new this week, My daughter called and told me that she has adopted a puppy, it is a beagle cross, I have not met him yet , but have see a pic , his name is tubs, but that I think will change, the grand kids will have a ball with him that is for sure, puppy's are a lot of work that is for sure but they are worth the work. lots of love and kisses
The work week was well not one of my better ones, but I got though it, hopefully next week will be better, with the way work went I did not get much sewing done on the quilt, but I have made some progress, all the free motion work is done, and I have started quilting the borders, hopefully I will have them done though the week, then all I have to do is make the binding and put it on, I have decided to use the burgundy backing fabric that I was going to use the first time, enough of it is in good shape to use for the binding, sorry no pic this week camera is in the charger
Happy sewing to all

Ah yes progress is made !
Happy Sunday Feb 17
I am happy to say things are going well at sew little time, Quilt is basted and is being sewn, yay .
The quilting wall worked great, love how much easier it is to baste with 505 spray, it was so much easier than pin basting and so far it has been much easier to sew,
I changed my mind on the backing fabric instead of the burgundy which was in bad shape after all the stitches were removed I am using a light brown /beige that I have had in my stash for way too long , so that is 4 meters used so far this month, the burgundy will be used as muslin fabric before being thrown away, so not much is lost on it.
I am using free motion quilting to quilt the main part of the quilt with a variegated thread doing a stipple stitch and it is going well , no puckers or skipped stitches which is what made me stop working on this quilt so long ago
It is hard to see in pics maybe you can see in pic of back
I have Monday off , it is a stat holiday here called family day , so I have a full day to sew , and I will be getting paid for it, how good is that! well that is all for now , going back to the sewing room .

What I have been up to this week

| removing stitches |
worked only 4 days this week due to the snow so Friday was a day to putter around , I did manage to finish ripping out all the threads from the quilt and remove all the little bits of thread, what a job that was, but now it is ready to re quilt but first I have to baste it .
which leads me to this project ,, I have made a quilting wall! used Styrofoam insulation board the type that u can get at any hardware store and used a type of clocking that can be removed form the wall with out causing any damage, it is the type use for putting up plastic storm sheeting on windows and is easy removed, I live in a rented apt , so I have to be careful not to damage the wall. And what gave me the idea to do this you may ask,, well I want to spray baste it and i was looking at you tube to see how it is done and saw a lady who used ceiling tiles to make a quilting wall, she also is the one who spray bastes all her quilts using her wall.
After the wall was up I covered the wall with some fabric and now it is ready to go, I used thumb tacks to attach the fabric along the edges of the foam broad, and will use pins for pinning fabric to the wall, in the pic above I have pinned the quilt top to see how it works, so far so good,.
Well that is all for now happy sewing to all

Riping threads
Well as the top of the post says I have been getting real friendly with my seam ripper. but it is all done now.... please see last post for pic of quilt that I am working on,,, I have the top and batting and backing apart,Now it is just on to picking all the little tread bits out, and weell that is a pain in the but to do , going to take me a bit that is for sure but , I am determined to get it done, I need to get this ufo done and out of my sewing room.
I have made a few practice sandwiches out of scraps of fabric and batting and hope to work on them latter in the week, we shall see how it goes and I will post pics of progress
As for my fabric and pattern fast is is going ok. not as good as I had hoped it would thought, I have used 2 patterns from stash and 10 meters of fabric also from stash , not as much as I had hope for January but it is what it is.. onward to Feb sewing , hope to keep it up with the fast and get some more work done on this quilt, but if paid sewing comes my way it means sewing for me will just have to wait,

1 finished project and a really old UFO
Well here it is the last week of Jan 2013. what a month it has been,,
It was a good week this week even with the bitter cold, my new winter woollies made a big difference in how I handled the cold, one moring it was -30C with the windchill!!! I got a full week in at work with 2 hrs overtime and that will help the pay cheque that is for sure.
As for sewing I have managed to get my woolie top done!
So my total amount sewn so far from stash is 10 meters . that is the amount I hoped to get done for this month, as for new purchases I have been good, no new fabric for personal sewing, I did go to fabricland today to buy basting spray , more on why later in this post, and I bought to rements of a 1/4 meter to make potatoe bags for market this year.
Now here is the UFO I am talking about in the title of this post. This quilt was started 4 maybe 5 years ago, It has been so long that I cant remember !
It is a quilt that I started and had some really bad free motion stitching , did about 1/3 of the quilt on the one side and just gave up on it,
I know these are not the greatest pics but I hope it gives you some idea of the mess,I have done some reading and have watched a number of u tube videos on quilting and have decided to try spray basting the quilt and then will re stitch the quilt, been praticing free motion and I hope that I will have better results this time,,, but before I get to do this basting I have to rip out all the stitches that I have all ready done, ( it was pin basted ,and have removed them).. I think this is going to take abit to do, as I had sew all the squares 6 inches in rows and that will also have to be ripped out, my poor seam ripper is going to get a good work out !!
well that is all for now , Happy sewing to all

new winter woolies(leggigns)
Here it is Sunday again, the last week was a different one that is for sure, The work week went by slowly even though I only worked 3 days, laid off due to lack of work, which sucks but it is part of the business I work in, Thank goodness I am a long time full timer and don't get laid off that much any more but it still hurts the pocket book when it does..oh well
The good thing about it is that I had an extra day to sew,, so I finally got the paid sewing done! the dress is finished and will be given back to the girl on Monday. Yeah I cant wait to get it out of the apt , was not a fun project that if for sure, please read last Sunday post for the details.
With the extra day today to sew I was able to make 2 pairs of winter woollies, (long johns , Leggings ) it is going to get really cold this week the wind chill factor is going to be in the - 18 to- 20 *C range this week and that is during the daytime high, yikes ! and when you have to stand and wait for a bus these for me are a must.
I used McCall's 6173 view c . I know the fabric I used is ugly but no one will see them underneath my clothes and with me sewing from stash it is what I had to use,, fabric was bought to make muslin's of knit tops but I never got around to making them. I have enough left over that I have cut a top to go with these using the renfrew top pattern with cap sleeves cut out on the cutting table and hope to work on it this week, I made a size extra small and petited the patten and they fit good, sorry but no pic of me in them , not a pretty sight that is for sure
So for yardage sewn on this project it is 2 meters for the pants and 1 meter for the top for a total of 3 meters out of the stash, and 1 unused pattern finally put to use!
well tine to get of pc and back to sewing
Happy sewing to all and hope you all have a good week

A better week. sort of....
We are having a January thaw this weekend it is up to 9C today and raining , the snow is melting and I even was able to go out with not having to ware winter boots, running shoes, a winter coat no hat or gloves, really .. but it is not going to last long temperatures are going to start to drop and we are supposed to get snow this up coming week, booo. but there is nothing I can do about it the weather oh well, spring is just 4 months from now..
AS for sewing I have a paid project that is turning out to be a bit of a pain..client bought dress of Internet and well it is not , really not good , made in china , off grain , wrong size , etc . done most of the fixes except the hem , double hem that is, taking a break form it before I lose my mind
so for sewing for me I am working on winter woolies, (long johns). I know that they are not the most petty thing to make but they are a must have here for me, too cold not to have and the ones in the shops do not fit, even if I can find them, and way over priced for my budget,
The pattern I using is McCall's 6173
It has gotten good reviews on pattern review , so far all I have gotten done is to trace out the pattern piece , it is just one! got to like that,, but I need to make some petite adjustments , even with using the smallest size it is just to big way to long for starters. but once I get that sorted it will be a easy sew
happy sewing
